A brief history
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, during the summer of 1983. Growing up, I was fortunate to attend an international school that opened my eyes to a world of cultures and perspectives. By 2002, I had earned my IB Diploma (International Baccalaureate), and shortly after, I set off on a solo backpacking trip across Western Europe. It was a formative experience, working odd jobs, and meeting people from all walks of life.
In 2004, I returned home with the dream of pursuing a creative path. I landed my first role as a Junior Creative in an advertising agency, and established myself as a visual artist, but political instability in Venezuela cut that chapter short. In 2009, I moved to Barcelona with a scholarship to study at Istituto Europeo di Design (IED). I graduated in Art Direction and was honoured with the Academic Board Visual Communication Thesis Award in 2012.
From there, my professional journey has grown from graphic design, to UX, and eventually into research and innovation. Along the way, I worked for RAPP, Ogilvy, and eDreams, before founding Pixel Research Lab, a consultancy agency built around fast, evidence-based research to help companies make informed decisions. Over seven years, we had the privilege of partnering with incredible organisations like PortAventura World, Wallbox, Áltima Serveis Funeraris, Samaipata, Colvin, Tropicfeel, ABA English, and Haworth, among others.
Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a deep curiosity about how decisions are made. Early on, those decisions often felt arbitrary or based on instinct. That pushed me to dive deeper, learning methodologies, refining processes, and embracing data as a creative tool. Over time, my focus shifted from what things look like, to why they work.
Today, I lead the R&D team at Áltima Serveis Funeraris as an external contractor, where we keep a close eye on industry trends and run pilot projects to guide the company’s innovation roadmap. To me, it’s truly meaningful work, filled with purpose.
